Research Profile

The group COM (Computational Physics) is engaged in research in the field of quantum field theory on the lattice and numerical simulation.

A main focus of the group is on the the methodology in the form of developing novel or improved Monte Carlo techniques and in the quantum field theoretic formulation and preparation of problems. Here, in particular in connection with Diploma theses, spin models (also of potential interest for condensed matter physics) are sometimes studied as simplified test cases.

On the other hand the group also takes part in large scale applications on parallel computers in the area of nonperturbative QCD. Here results are achieved which are of steadily growing interest for particle phenomenology. These research actvities are largely integrated into the research programme of the ALPHA collaboration which comprises several universities and research centers, see Alpha-Collaboration for further details.
