Rekonstruktion von Lambda-Zerfällen zur Untersuchung von Elektronfehlidentifikationen durch Protonen bei ATLAS

In this analysis of the ATLAS experiment's data decays of  bosons are reconstructed. A very high purity of 99,7+0,06-0,2 % at an efficiency of (17,9 ± 0,2) % was achieved. The essential tool in the analysis was a kinematic fit, which was extended by further selection cuts. Every reconstructed  boson decay yields also a recon structed proton and a pion. These particles may subsequently be used to study the electron misidentification and give an indication to the qualitiy of the electron reconstruction at ATLAS. The determination of the electron misidentifcation probability, that is, the probability of a reconstructed electron being a misidentified proton (or pion), could not be completed within the scope of this analysis. This is due to the amount data having been collected by the experiment at the time of writing being insufficient for the determination of the misidentification probability in terms of the electron's transverse momentum and the polar angle.
