Studien zur elektroschwachen Produktion von Top-Quarks in Proton-Proton-Stößen bei ATLAS

This thesis presents different studies of electroweakly produced top quarks in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider with the ATLAS detector. A kinematic fit is used to separate signal and background events. The subsequent signal extraction is done by a template fit of simulated events to the measured data. The obtained total cross section of electroweakly produced top quarks with an electronic or muonic final state in this thesis is  σ = 23,60 ± 2,16(stat.)+8,85-7,84 (syst.) pb. In the second part of this thesis a comparisson study of the usual detector simulation and the faster AtlFast2 detector simulation is provided. After the object selection both simulations show similar results. Therefore the AtlFast2 simulation is already used for the official Monte Carlo production.
