Dr. Clara Leitgeb

I am an experimental particle physicist in the group of Prof. Cigdem Issever at HU and a member of the ATLAS and LHCf collaborations.

Current Research Activities

  • Measurements of soft hadronic interaction cross sections with the ATLAS and LHCf detectors in proton-proton and proton-Oxygen collisions at the LHC
  • Phenomenological studies relating cosmic ray induced air shower measurements to LHC collisions
  • Simulations for existing and future forward detectors

Previous Research Projects

  • Search for direct production of supersymmetric particles in final states with two tau-leptons with the ATLAS detector
  • Use of machine learning techniques for scalar tau searches with the ATLAS detector
  • Search for tau-flavoured dark matter with the ATLAS detector
  • Calibration of the ATLAS tau identification and energy scale

Coordination Roles

  • Convener of the soft QCD physics analysis group in ATLAS (since 2024)
  • Analysis contact in ATLAS for ATLAS+LHCf feasibility studies (2022-2023)
  • Coordinator of common astroparticle and particle physics research efforts at HU/DESY (since 2021)
  • Member of the DESY-FH Early Career Scientist Board (2022-2023)
  • Workshop Organizer: “Forward Physics and Hadronic Models”, DESY Hamburg and Zeuthen, HU Berlin, 22.4.2024

Other Activities

  • Masterclasses at schools "particle physicist for one day" with the Netzwerk Teilchenwelt and DESY (since 2017)
  • Guide for CERN tours and trained conferencier (2019)

Curriculum Vitae

  • since 2024: Staff scientist at HU
  • 2023-2024: Postdoc at HU
  • 2021-2023: Postdoc at DESY
  • 2017-2020: PhD at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität Munich (based at CERN in 2019)
