HIOS based on nanotubular J-aggregates

Objectives

Selected amphiphilic cyanine dyes self-assemble in aqueous solutions into tubular J aggregates, which shall be used to build more complex, opto-electronically active systems by further attachment of semiconducting nanoparticles. With these systems the coupling shall be investigated between the excitation energy transfer from a nanoparticle to the aggregate and the reverse transfer from the aggregate to another kind of nanoparticle. To control the distance between the aggregate surface and the particles the nanotubular aggregates will be covered by a well-defined silica layer.
