Active control of electro/optical interface properties in HIOS

Objectives

In this proposed project it is the goal to expand the concept of in situ switchable HIOS based on optically switchable dihydropyrene (DHP) self-assembled monolayers deposited on inorganic semiconductors such as ZnO utilizing resonant coupling mechanisms between plasmonic excitations and DHPs as well as DHP switching induced electric field polarisation changes in the transport at DHP/ZnO interfaces. Within this concept non-polar and polar DHPs will directly be used as the active organic-material functionality in a HIOS to expand the concept of in situ switchable HIOS to deliver novel HIOS based functionalities to the CRC.
