Racism

Discrimination based on the biologistic assumption of natural differences between people, which are referred to in racist contexts with the term “race”. In this context, certain abilities, rights, privileges etc. are inferred from external characteristics. Racist prejudices and stereotypes serve to justify hegemonic power relations; people are persecuted and excluded from participation in social life or certain areas on the basis of racism. Extreme forms of racism are apartheid, pogroms and genocide.
