The research group "Fundamentals of Optics and Photonics" Quantum Physics" of Arno Rauschenbeutel, we work with glass fibers having a diameter smaller than the wavelength of the guided light. The special properties of these glass fibers make them suitable for using them as a “quantum laboratory”.

The European Commission has announced support for our research on strong light-matter interaction of Rydberg super atoms with light guided in optical nanofibers. This project will be carried out in collaboration with the groups of Sebastian Hofferberth (University of Bonn) and Thomas Pohl (Aarhus University).
