Breath analysis by terahertz/millimeter-wave gas spectroscopy - Bachelor/Master thesis

Terahertz/millimeter-wave radiation is a suitable tool for analytical gas sensing due to strong transitions of many molecules in this frequency range. One particularly promising application is the analysis of human breath. Through exchange of compounds between blood and breath in the lungs, the exhaled gas contains valuable information about physiological processes which can be used for medical diagnoses.

We can offer several topics for bachelor/master theses in the field according to the students’ preferences. The tasks will be mainly experimental based on our existing terahertz/millimeter-wave system. Possible topics involve the further system development or the identification of different physiological processes in breath samples.

Feel free to contact us at any time. We are looking forward to meet you.
