Starting grants for Post-Docs

Full members and associated members of the reaearch training group GRK1504 who are close to finalizing their PhD can apply for Post-Doc starting grants. In total six months per year can be funded by GRK1504. The salary covers 2/3 of a full position.

The funding is intended to support pre-studies for possible future projects connected with a full position at some other place. The project should be compatible with the topics of GRK1504 and should qualify you further. It is not allowed to use this funding to complete your PhD project (eg. writing a journal paper about your PhD project) or any project closely related to your PhD project.

 

How to apply

Discuss possible projects with your supervisor. Your supervisor should inform the GRK coordinator as soon as possible about your plans.

Your application should contain:

  • Letter of motivation and CV
  • An essay describing your proposed project. This should innclude  a project sketch and and a work plan
  • A list of publications and presentations within the scope of your PhD project
  • A list of all GRK lectures you have attended
  • Your PhD thesis (if already complete)

Please submit your application via email to the contact person given below. Both PhD supervisors are required to send a letter of reference directly to the GRK coordinator by email.

 

When to apply

It is not possible to apply before your thesis is submitted.

 

Requirements

  • Both PhD supervisors have to support your application
  • A minimum PhD grade of 'magna cum laude' is required
