Department Colloquium: Prof. Dr. Klaas Bergmann (Fachbereich Physik, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern and TOPTICA-Projects (Gräfelfing)) will talk about:
"LARA" - Laser ranging with Micrometer accuracy based on a new concept.
Abstract
A novel concept for high accuracy laser ranging for industrial application, e.g. for mapping a surface topography with micron accuracy, will be discussed. The system is approaching market readiness. The non-trivial physics behind the new concept will be explained. Experimental results will be shown. The method is based on a laser with cavity-internal frequency-shifted feedback laser, which had been studied in Kaiserslautern in the 1990ties.
Some general comments about academia-industry cooperation will also be included.
The colloquium is carried out "hybrid", so it can be followed both in the lecture hall and via zoom. The registration data will be sent in advance via the usual mailing list or can be requested at gd-at-physik.hu-berlin.de.
