Welcome to the Novel Materials group
Future electronic applications demand novel functional materials. At the Novel Materials Group scientists, students, and visitors together investigate transport phenomena of charge, spin and heat flow by measuring electrical, thermal and thermoelectric properties. For micro- or nanoscale materials we design and implement new experimental techniques.
To gain a better understanding of the underlying physics, we correlate the physical and structural properties of
- quantum structures and devices for future quantum- and spinelectronics
- nanomaterials and ultra-thin layered films for fundamental thermo-/electric effects or emergent phenomena, such as superconductivity or topologically protected electronic surfaces, and
- novel semiconductor materials, such as group III-sesquioxides for future power- or opto-electronic applications.
For many reasons novel materials are exciting! So please have a look at our latest research in our webpages. And, we of course welcome you to visit us or join us at the Campus Adlershof of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
