Department Colloquium: Prof. Ramy El-Ganainy, (Michigan Technological University, USA) talks about:

Non-Hermitian optics and photonics

Abstract

Over the past decade, notions from non-Hermitian symmetries with their hallmark singularities known as exceptional points have deepened our understanding for light-mater interactions. In this, I present a brief introduction for some of the basic concepts in non-Hermitian physics and will discuss our recent work on non-Hermitian optics and photonics.

The Colloquium will be held in "hybrid" format, i.e., you can join the talk in the lecture hall or via zoom.
(For participants in presence: wearing a FFP2 mask is mandatory.)
