Your Next Step in Teaching Physics
The Master of Education in Physics builds directly on the teaching-oriented bachelor’s degree and specifically prepares you for a career as a physics teacher at integrated secondary schools or grammar schools. You study physics either as a major subject or as a minor subject – always in combination with another school-relevant subject. Program Structure

Major Subject Option: 75 credit points, most of them in subject-specific and subject-didactic modules as well as supplementary modules in educational sciences.

Minor Subject Option: 45 credit points, including modules for deepening physics knowledge, subject didactics, and school practice.

Educational Sciences and Practical Phases: 35 credit points, including school internships and preparation for the teaching traineeship (Referendariat).
Knowledge and Skills
In the master’s program, you deepen your subject knowledge in physics and expand your didactic skills. You engage with current issues and research findings, reflect on the role of physics in science and society, and learn to design learning processes based on research.
Subject Didactics and Practice
A special focus is placed on the planning, implementation, and reflection of lessons. In extensive practical phases, you apply your knowledge in schools and further develop your professional identity as a teacher. Throughout this process, you are closely supported by mentors.
Digital and Methodological Skills
You acquire competencies for the use of modern digital media in physics teaching, learn differentiated methods of learning support, and strengthen your communication and cooperation skills for working within the teaching staff.
Career Prospects
With the Master of Education in Physics, you complete your university teacher training and are well prepared for the subsequent teaching traineeship (Referendariat). This opens the way for you into the school system – and into a responsible professional future as a physics teacher.
